He wanted to open the bowling! She wanted to go shopping!

Would they ever find happiness?

A Series of 20…maybe more, maybe less….

No.1  - Ian ‘Bluey’ Parker

Looking out of your back door, spotting a game of cricket at The Nevill and thinking, ’Mmm! That looks like a good idea!’ is possibly not the best way to re-ignite a long dormant sporting career, but then again…why not? In any case, Ian is not your typical ‘favourite food – steak and chips; favourite drink – lager; favourite holiday destination – Benidorm’ sportsman!

Rack of lamb, a bottle or two of Rioja and the Copacabana Beach would be his preferences, reflecting the cosmopolitan nature of his job as an airline pilot. ‘Good morning, my name is Captain Parker’ might be a reason for travelling Bensons to take serious note of the aircraft emergency procedure for once, but on the cricket pitch, it’s a different matter. Ian’s cricketing hero is David Gower. There are approximately 30,000 career runs separating the two, but Ian’s first 50 for the Bensons was a career high. He knows his place in the pecking order! The bar bill when he ever scores a ton should keep the club afloat for some time! His commitment, generosity and enjoyment of the game are three good reasons for playing for the 3s under his captaincy.
