U11s start season with a win
Brighton and Hove get one up on Preston Nomads as the Under 11's start the season off with a win.
The Under 11s are fielding two teams this season to make sure all our young cricketers get as much time in the middle as possible. Unfortunately Sunday started with some bad news when the B team game was called off because the pitch at Hirst was wet. However the As game away at Preston Nomads went ahead under leaden skies.
We won the toss when captain Moses Brazil called correctly and put them in. Outstanding bowling and fielding reduced them to 214 for 11, having started on 200! (5 runs deducted for each wicket lost). Louis Marshall making his debut took 4 for 14 and 6 other bowlers chipped in with a wicket plus a brilliant run out by Alec Scot
Brighton and Hove replied with 258 for 7 with excellent batting from Ollie Pearce (also making his debut) making 24 off just 14 balls with 5 exquisite 4.
The managers were very pleased with the way the team conducted themselves both on and off the field. We were told we were the politest team to visit for some time. Looks like we are in for lots of fun and excitement in the season ahead.
