Under 11's end St Peters' 19 game winning streak
The Under 11's showed what they are made of on Sunday by beating St Peters, who were unbeaten for two years!!
The most eagerly awaited game of the season away at St Peters got underway on time under leaden skies and in steady drizzle on Sunday. Obviously a barmy day for umpire Andy Scott (proud Yorkshireman) in his shorts and sunglasses!
This St Peters team had not lost a game in two years! But their 19 match winning streak was about to be tested by a committed, well disciplined Brighton And Hove performance.
We put them in having won the toss. There then followed some superb bowling and fielding on a very small playing area. They scored 257 for 7.
We overtook their score with the 3rd pair but they have excellent bowlers who did not give up. Ollie and Mo played out 4 maidens with the ball keeping lower and lower as the pitch got wetter. Samir and Alec were the last pair. 4 ahead. Then they were both out! Samir caught on the boundary and Alec given LBW by Andy his dad!
We were behind and it was tense.
Three wonderful 4s later we were all feeling much better. 268 for 5. Brighton And Hove won by 11 runs.
St Peters were very sporting, especially considering they will have forgotten how it feels to lose! We are playing them in the cup next Sunday so they don't have long to wait before they can try and get back at us.
Love and peace from Mick Brazil
